About us

On the Air is a weekly radio show produced by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). Each show will give you the latest news and information on GNWT initiatives, provide in-depth coverage of some of the latest issues, profile the people in your communities working to provide our programs and services, and let you know about upcoming events, public meetings and application deadlines. 

New shows are released every Friday and are broadcast in 32 NWT communities, as well as to the Ekati, Snap Lake and Diavik diamond mines on CKLB Radio (101.9 FM). The show is also available as a podcast on iTunes or as an RSS feed. Individual segments or complete versions of the show may be downloaded as mp3 files from the On the Air website.

Each week's show includes content in at least two of the NWT's 11 Official Languages. Info-TNO, a French-language version of the show is broadcast on Radio Taiga (103.5 FM) in Yellowknife and posted to the Internet as a podcast and as downloadable files.

On the Air is produced by the Corporate Communications and Protocol division of the Department of Executive in cooperation with staff in all GNWT departments.
