YELLOWKNIFE (February 25, 2016) - The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has launched a new website to provide accurate, easy to understand information about drinking water in the Northwest Territories (NWT).
Several GNWT departments work in partnership with the community governments to ensure drinking water is safe, including; Health and Social Services, Public Works and Services, Environment and Natural Resources and Municipal and Community Affairs.
The new website describes the mandates and responsibilities, and outlines the steps involved in ensuring drinking water is safe. It provides information about water treatment measures, monitoring and testing, source water protection and other important aspects of our territory’s drinking water.
The website is available in both English and French, and will be kept current to ensure residents have access to the latest news and resources.
You can visit the new website at www.nwtdrinkingwater.ca
“The safety and quality of drinking water in the NWT is a priority for our residents. This website serves as a valuable tool to increase public awareness, understanding and transparency about how we keep our drinking water safe.”
