NWT Youth Ambassador Meets Crown Prince of Denmark

YELLOWKNIFE (March 7, 2016) With the 2016 Arctic Winter Games in Nuuk, Greenland, underway, Northwest Territories (NWT) Youth Ambassador Katie Holtorf had the distinct honour of meeting His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Denmark.

Katie and 14 other NWT Youth Ambassadors arrived in Nuuk three days before the Games to volunteer with the Host Society, and they have been working hard to help make these Games a success. The group will stay an extra two days after the Games conclude to assist in the wrap up process. The Youth Ambassadors will be participating in a variety of events during the Arctic Winter Games, including the opening and closing ceremonies.

  • The NWT Youth Ambassador Program provides a guided and structured volunteer experience for NWT youth at major events, which helps build confidence and develop significant life and job skills.
  • Past NWT Youth Ambassadors have attended the Arctic Winter Games, Canada Games, North American Indigenous Games, the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, and the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
  • The Youth Ambassador Program is part of the Government of the Northwest Territories’ Healthy Choice Framework, which aims to help young people improve their skills and make healthy choices.
