Tri-Party Memorandum of Understanding Signed in Support of NWT Community Governments

YELLOWKNIFE (May 17, 2016) The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA), NWT Association of Communities (NWTAC),  and the Local Government Administrators of the NWT (LGANT), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) designed to improve collaborative support for community governments in the Northwest Territories.

The MOU was an outcome of meetings held in conjunction with NWTAC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) from May 5-8, 2016.  This year’s AGM marked the 50th anniversary of the NWTAC. The objective of the MOU is to strengthen partnerships through shared understanding of the mandates, roles, and responsibilities of the three organizations as they work together to support and strengthen community governments. The MOU commits the partners to a collaborative process when addressing the challenges related to developing best practices in community governance.
