YELLOWKNIFE (October 12, 2017) - The Government of the Northwest Territories is taking steps to advance a strategy that will help expand the Northwest Territories’ manufacturing sector.
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) today released a discussion paper designed to spark input, ideas, and discussions about manufacturing and how to build the manufacturing sector in the NWT.
It will be the basis for upcoming engagements with manufacturers, industry, Aboriginal governments, varying stakeholders and the public to guide Strategy development. In-person engagement sessions will take place in six communities across the NWT, complemented by opportunities to engage online at ITI’s new engagement portal, by email, by phone, and by mail.
The commitment to deliver a Northern Manufacturing Strategy is part of the GNWT’s 2016-19 Mandate.
“I am pleased to advance this work designed to lay out new, innovative ways to support the next generation of NWT manufacturers. We will move forward with the input of stakeholders and the public to create a vibrant, successful NWT manufacturing sector that will contribute to a strong, diverse economy for the NWT.”
