Department Information

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority –Stanton Territorial Hospital (NTHSSA)  is offering challenging work and work life balance.  Join our health care team as a Medical Radiation Technologist.   Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) is a 100 in-patient bed accredited facility, located in Yellowknife Northwest Territories (NWT). This is an exciting time to work at Stanton as the hospital is undergoing  major redevelopment with a new $350 million facility being built with operations scheduled to transition into the new facility in 2019, for more information on the redevelopment visit www.stantonrenewal.ca.

STH is the referral center for approximately 43,000 NWT residents and 5,900 residents from the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. STH provides health care services to adults and children on an inpatient/outpatient and outreach basis in order to restore health with dignity.  STH maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property, recognizing the health hazards associated with tobacco in the workplace, both to smokers and non-smokers alike.  Therefore, Stanton maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property.

 

Job Information

The following opportunities are available:

One (1) Full-Time Indeterminate.

One (1) 12 month term - Mammography/MRT

Provides diagnostic X-ray services to patients of the Diagnostic Imaging Department in accordance with established standards of radiological practice and the philosophy and objective of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) to ensure quality images are produced which aid the Radiologist during the accurate and timely diagnosis of patients.

Located within Stanton and reporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging Services the incumbent is one of the 4 Medical Radiation Technologists who provides radiological testing (x-ray) of patients. The Diagnostic Imaging Department consists of the Supervisor, 4 Medical Radiation Technologists, 1 Mammography/Medical Radiation Technologist, 5 Sonographers, 1 Senior Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist.

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the continued operation of all radiographic equipment such as the x-ray machines, fluoroscopy machine, C-Arm, computed tomography (CT) equipment and direct radiography (DR) equipment.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

This level of knowledge is typically acquired through the successful completion of a minimum of Diploma or Degree in Medical Radiation Technology with certification and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

The Full-Time indeterminate incumbent must have CT courses (CAMRT or equivalent) and one year of experience working in CT.

The one year term incumbent must have Mammography 1 and 2 from the CAMRT and have one year experience working in Mammography.  CT experience would be an asset.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $40.85 per hour to $48.77 per hour (approximately $79,658 - $95,102 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
