Job Information

Are you interested in combining more than numbers?

The Department of Finance is looking for an expert in consolidations with in depth knowledge of public auditing.  In this role you will be responsible for working closely with Senior Managers across the Government to analyze, audit and consolidate the statements from all of the boards and agencies into  the  GNWT consolidated financial statements.  The successful candidate will have to combine strong financial expertise with excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, communication, persuasion and tact) in order to be successful in this role.

Additional responsibilities include providing professional advice, assistance, training and interpretation to Departments and Government entities on issues related to GAAP, territorial financial Acts and other materials as required.

The successful applicant will combine the skills and knowledge gained through the completion of a recognized accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) along with a minimum of five years of progressive practical accounting experience including two years’ experience in the preparation of complex consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements.

This role is located in Yellowknife, a city situated on the Canadian Shield on the shores of Great Slave Lake, the tenth largest lake in the world.  The city has a population of about 20,000 residents who enjoy some of the shortest commutes to work in the country.  You’ll find all of the amenities of a big city without the traffic, and an abundance of fresh air.  There are year-round outdoor (and indoor) activities, and a wide variety of individual and team sports leagues.  Upon moving to Yellowknife you’ll find a welcoming community that quickly becomes home.
