The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

Located in Yellowknife, the position will assist in providing advice to both the Department and the Health and Social Services Authorities. The incumbent will assist with the development and monitoring of a multi-million dollar capital and O&M budgets, the support, monitoring and evaluation of facilities in the Territorial Health and Social Services Authority, Hay River Health and Social Services Authority and the Tlicho Community Services Agency and health and social services boards of management, and the planning and monitoring of over seventy (70) health and social services facilities in all the communities in the NWT.
Reporting to the Facility Planning Consultant, the position must work with representatives from the Department, Authorities, Communities and Private sector. The work is conducted to a large extent in a team environment, including Health and Social Services, Authorities and Public Works and Services, and many other stakeholders, often requiring travel to regions and communities.
The Department of Health and Social Services is the largest Department in the GNWT, with a budget of over $344 million, and is currently undertaking major strategic reform, affecting the entire health and social services system. Part of this is a significant change in the role of the Department, moving away from direct program delivery and support. The changes on a territorial level coincide with a national picture of social policy and health system reform.

This job opening is for a 1 Year Term.
The salary for this position starts at $37.27 per hour (approximately $72,677. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
