Job Information

Located in Fort Smith and reporting to the Manager of Accounting, Budgeting and Inventory, the Asset Management and Inventory Officer is responsible for the asset management, and inventory of all Aurora College's controllable and capital assets located a the Western Arctic Research Centre, the North Slave and South Slave Research Centres, Thebacha Campus, Yellowknife North Slave Campus, Aurora Campus, the Yellowknife Trade Building the 23 Community Learning Centres and the residences located in Yellowknife, Inuvik and Fort Smith.  The incumbent is designated to monitor and administer the College's assets at the above listed geographical areas and is responsible for updating and maintaining the Asset Management Information System in the Multiview financial system used by Aurora College.  The Financial Administration Act (FAA), under subsection 12 (2) (c) (ii) requires the establishment of and maintenance of systems and procedures to control public property.  According to the FAA, public property is comprised of both personal and real property.  This position focuses on personal property, both tangible and intangible assets (exept for inventories for consumption or use).  To ensure proper control over Aurora College assets custodians are appointed over property.  The Asset Management and Inventory Officer will assign custody or control over the Aurora College property items to College staff.

The position is responsible for Third Party agreement administration for the area of Student Services function at Aurora College and for Aurora Research Institute (ARI) under $100,000 in the fiscal year.  The incumbent prepares and updates College forecasts, prepares various reports, and the budget-to-actual review process, according to established College policies and procedures and third party reporting requirements.  This position also performs analysis of accounting, financial and budgetary data, including reconciliation and ensures that necessary documentation is maintained.  The incumbent monitors and reports on budgets and actuals to third parties as outlined in their contribution agreements. 

Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities are normally acquired through a Diploma in Business Administration and two years (2) years' experience with Asset Management, Amortization and Inventory systems.  Experience with purchasing and inventory along with two (2) years' experience, in working with modular accounting systems are also required.

The incumbent in this position will be required to travel between various College locations on a routine basis.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $38.98 per hour (approximately $76,011.00 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $6,180.00.
