Job Information

The Manager, Capital Planning (Manager) is responsible for managing the Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE)’s infrastructure budgets as well as  the planning and monitoring of infrastructure projects and ensuring the ongoing protection of assets to ensure the appropriate and necessary facilities and equipment are available and maintained at an acceptable level in accordance with legislation, standards and criteria to allow the department to meet its mandate within ECE and through service delivery agents responsible for providing educational and cultural services to the residents of the Northwest Territories (NWT).
The Manager provides direct supervision to a Facility Planner, contractors, advisors and temporary interns and casual employees for support work.  The Facility Planner provides professional expertise in architectural project and facility planning. The Manager is responsible for asset life cycle planning, capital budget development and management and project planning.   Although the capital budget and number of projects fluctuates each year, there is an average of approximately 20 projects annually.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by a completion of a Professional Accounting designation with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in capital asset management.  Related experience in a northern environment is essential.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $53.65per hour to $64.05 per hour (approximately $104,618 - $124,898) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
