Job Information

Located in Yellowknife and reporting to Manager of Health and Wellness, with supervisory support from the Manager of Social Marketing, the Intern, Health Promotion Officer (Intern) will be engaged in all aspects of the health promotion work occurring within the Indigenous Health and Community Wellness Division. The Intern will contribute to the development of high-quality community-focused health promotion campaigns and initiatives. The Intern will participate in the design and delivery of materials and programming through participation in GNWT planning committees and client needs assessments, including focus groups, surveys and one-on-one interviews.

The Intern, Health Promotion Officer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives across the Northwest Territories. Working closely with subject experts in the areas of tobacco cessation, nutrition, injury prevention and social marketing, the Intern will assist with supporting healthy behaviour change in NWT communities.

The work of the health promotion team is highly collaborative, and will require the Intern to communicate with various stakeholders across the Northwest Territories and work closely with a number of the division's health promotion subject experts. The Intern will specifically be expected to engage substantially with young people across the territory, contributing towards the development of youth-friendly health promotion products and initiatives. Research, writing, data collection and information consolidation will all be included in the work.

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are usually attained through an undergraduate degree in Health Promotion, Community Development, Public Health, or Marketing.

This job opening is for a 1 Year Term.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $34.67 per hour (approximately $67,607. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
