Department Information

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies.  INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information

The Junior Project Officer performs engineering and related project delivery tasks for major projects involving roads and highways for the Department of Infrastructure.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of project management preferably in a Northern environment.
-Knowledge of design and construction management of heavy civil works for road and highway projects.
-Problem solving skills to analyze and determine solutions for issues.
-Skills in scientific report writing, critical peer review, and editing of scientific reports and interpretations.
-Experience working in cross-cultural settings.
-Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with other professionals.
-Ability to use programs that require some degree of computer coding.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering. Must possess a Class 5 Drivers License.

Term Position

This job opening is for a possible two year term.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $34.67 per hour to $41.38 per hour (approximately $67,606.50 to $80,691), plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3450.
