Job Information

Located in Yellowknife, the Junior Community Governance Advisor (Intern) reports to the Director, Community Governance.  The Intern assists with supporting all 33 community governments and other indigenous governments, the operation of local authorities’ elections, and through implementing self-government agreements.

The Junior Community Governance Advisor provides guided advice and support to community governments and within MACA on community governance, legislation and bylaw making, on the implementation of land claim and self-government agreements at the community level, and on local elections.

This position is intended to assist with supporting of the development and advancement of workable, affordable, and effective forms of local and regional government, the implementation of new indigenous self-governments, properly run elections, and to enhance the Department’s ability to respond to emerging governance needs.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position would normally be demonstrated by a university degree in political science or public administration.

Term Position

This job opening is for a one (1) or two (2) years internship.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $33.44 per hour (approximately $65,208 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
