About the Job
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

This is a pivotal position in the development, promotion, implementation, and maintenance of DIIMS throughout the GNWT including the development of procedures, standards, and guidelines. The incumbent must ensure that the GNWT's recorded information is managed efficiently and effectively according to relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and accepted records management practices.
This position must address the complex and challenging issues raised by the growth of electronic records, e-mail messages, and emerging information technologies. The EIM Specialist contributes both technical expertise and knowledge in addressing the GNWT's electronic information management needs through the overall maintenance of both government-wide and departmental information management strategies, standards, and systems.
The EIM Specialist needs a strong background in document management software training, records management training, encompassing remote training, live sessions and creating and maintaining training documentation.
The EIM Specialist must be an excellent communicator, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to work with users at varying levels of technical knowledge. This position also requires the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
This position will also act as the technical expert and be part of various project teams in order to continue the implementation of DIIMS throughout the GNWT.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Degree in Information Management, Information Technology or Records Management; and,
Five (5) years of directly related experience focused on systems development and implementation of electronic records management systems, document management systems and the management of recorded information; and,
Experience in training course development and delivery and operating a Help Desk.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary range for this position is from $44.75 per hour to $53.44 per hour (approximately $87,263 - $104,208.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
