Community Social Worker
The Community Social Worker (CSW) is part of the primary community care team and must develop a positive working relationship with the community resources in order to provide optimum support to the children and families with which they work.
The incumbent is responsible for providing direct service delivery in several program areas including the Child and Family Services Program (Child Protection, Voluntary Services, Foster Care, Adoptions, Adult Services, Homelessness and Family Violence) and the Aged and Handicapped Program. They are also required to provide supportive services to clients in a wide range of other areas. The extent of direct service delivery provided is dependent upon other resources in the community. The incumbent is expected to case conference with the Regional Supervisor, Child, Family and Services on a regular basis and consult on cases that are particularly difficult.
This job posting will be used to fill all levels of Community Social Services Worker positions in various communities across the Northwest Territories.
Typically Attained By:
The incumbent must have a Diploma in Social Work with a minimum of 2 years of direct practice in the field of Child and Family Service’s or a Bachelor Degree in Social Work.
Obtaining the NWT Child Protection Appointment is a contingency of employment.

Driver's License Requirement
A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's and in cases may require a valid class 4 license.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary for this position starts at $42.75 per hour (approximately $83,363.00 per annum) plus Northern Allowance.
Eligibility lists may be created from this competition to fill future term and indeterminate positions.
