This job opening is limited to residents living within 25 kilometres of Fort Liard.

Environment and Natural Resources actively collaborates to protect, manage and restore ecosystem health, promote environmental stewardship and support the wise use of natural resources for the benefit of ecosystems, which include the people of the Northwest Territories

Job Information

The position is located in the Deh Cho Region and reports to the Crew Leader. The position is one of several crewmember positions in the Deh Cho. The incumbent may be required to travel away from home for period of up to three weeks. The incumbent receives day-to day instruction from the Crew Leader. The incumbent is required to provide forest fire fighting and general duties in an overall effort to promote the sustainability of the Deh Cho Region forests.

The incumbent is directly responsible for carrying out wildland fireline duties on active forest fires and related forest management duties. The incumbent is also responsible for testing and repairing forest management equipment and minor building and grounds maintenance.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained through recent Certification in S-131 Forest Fire Fighting Training Course. A bona fide requirement of the job is passing the annual Firefighter Work Capacity Testing standard.

Physical Fitness Requirements

Must meet national standards for Physical Fitness as established by the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre

Driver's License Requirement

A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $31.16 per hour to $37.20 per hour (approximately $64,813. - $77,376.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $9,772.
