Job Information

Located within the Paulatuk Health Centre and reporting directly to the Regional Manager, Community Health Centres, the Nurse in Charge (NIC) will manage the delivery of community health services to a client population of approximately 290 residents in Paulatuk. The Health Centre in Paulatuk is the sole medical facility and supports approximately 2700+ encounters per year.

Community Health Services are provided by the NIC and 1 Community Health Nurse who reports directly to the NIC. Services include providing non-emergency medical care; responding to medical emergencies that require decision making outside of the usual policies, procedures and standards of nursing care; and delivers nursing programs designed to promote community health and well-ness (i.e. including but not limited to Well- Child/Woman/Man clinics, pre and post-natal clinics, school health program, chronic disease clinic, immunization programs, communicable disease surveillance and treatment, etc.). The provisions of critical incident services are supported by a physician over the telephone when communications links are available.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

The successful completion of a Nursing Degree, 3 years recent nursing experience with at least 1 year in a northern health center and 6 months supervisory experience.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $53.31 per hour plus Northern Allowance of $14.38 per hour
