Department Information

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies.  INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information

Located in Yellowknife, the Facility Planner reports to the Manager, Facility Planning Services. The position provides facility planning support to all GNWT departments, boards and agencies; community governments; and non-governmental organizations (the clients) throughout the Northwest Territories (NWT).

The Facility Planner is guided by general direction from the Manager, Facility Planning Services, and by policy and legal advice from headquarters personnel. This position is responsible for ensuring that facility planning services are provided that result in the provision of appropriate solution to the GNWT's building infrastructure needs.

The position travels away from Yellowknife for 2 to 5 days each month. The position is occasionally exposed to confrontational situations at public meetings when community
expectations cannot be met within facility standards.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture plus 8 years of relevant experience, and at least two years of relevant work experience must be cold climate related.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $55.76 per hour to $66.61 per hour (approximately $108,732.00 - $129,889.50) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3700.00
