The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) works through wide-ranging partnerships and initiatives to deliver quality programs and services that promote and support economic development, diversification and prosperity in the interest of Northwest Territories residents – their businesses and communities.
The intern will assist in the development and implementation of standards, workflows and processes for a digital archives and geomatics related geospatial data as well as digital and online maps and products. It will also assist in providing advice, recommendations and assistance to enable effective acquisition, description, access, management and preservation of a broad range of digital content for the development of the Mineral Administration and Registry System (MAARS).
The intern carries out its activities in accordance with all relevant legislation, professional standards and institutional policies in order to ensure the long term preservation and accessibility by the public and government.
The intern position is located in Yellowknife and will report to the Applications Solutions Manager. The intern will assist the Manager on projects and provide operational digitization of legacy documents and mapping support for testing and implementation of the new enterprise solution (MAARS). It will also assist to ensure operational transition between the current and the new registry systems.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography or a geometrics related field or a Technician Diploma in GIS or a related field.

This job opening is for a 2 Year Term.
The salary for this position starts at $34.76 per hour (approximately $67,783. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
