Job Information

This position is located at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC) in Yellowknife and reports to the Director, Culture and Heritage. The incumbent is responsible for managing funding to support community culture and heritage organizations in their efforts to enhance the arts, preserve, promote and share culture and heritage information. 

Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of technical aspects of museum operations and procedures
  • Experience with management of community museums and cultural organizations
  • Proven decision making and problem solving abilities
  • Teaching and facilitation skills for delivering workshops and training
  • Ability to coach, mentor, develop and supervise staff
  • Strong research and writing skills and abilities

The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically attained by:

Completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, Fine Arts or Museum Studies or certificate in Cultural Resource Management or Arts Administration with three years of experience working in a museum, cultural centre or gallery setting.
