RN - Emergency

Located within the Stanton Territorial Hospital and reporting directly to the Manager, Critical Care Services you will work as per a rotation including weekends within the professional standards of RNANTU. You will be one of fourteen Registered Nurses (RN) providing acute care to patients in the eleven bed Emergency Unit.
During every shift one Registered Nurse, Emergency, who has demonstrated having at least two years recent emergency care experience alongside the completion of their Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) education, will have the opportunity to be accountable as Team Leader (Responsibility Nursing) for the overall Nursing care of all patients within the Emergency department and will collaborate with the inter-professional team, including the Manager, Critical Care Services, to facilitate and ensure safe patient care by promoting an atmosphere conducive to effective interdisciplinary communication.
The RN, Emergency is a member of the interdisciplinary team who provides direct nursing care to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric, non-urgent to critically ill or requiring resuscitation where the outcomes are often unpredictable and the patients may be unstable.
Through the ability to advocate for patience and facilitate communication between the patient, family and interdisciplinary team, we strive to achieve a holistic approach in planning, organizing, teaching and relationship development that will best meet the needs of the patient.
Typically, the above knowledge, skills and abilities are attained by the completion of a recognized degree program in Nursing and of the two avenues of professional development:
- Minimum two years of concurrent professional practice in an active Emergency Department. Equivalent experience in an active Intensive Care Unit will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Minimum of three years of concurrent professional practice on Medical or Surgical Nursing Units.
Must be eligible for current registration the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories/Nunavut, registration is mandatory for this position.
Completion of a certificate in Acute Critical Care Nursing will be considered as an advantage in both professional development pathways.

The salary range for this position is from $46.52 per hour to $55.57 per hour (approximately $90,714 - $108,362.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
