Public Health Project Officer, ProtectNWT (8 Month Term)
The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

The Public Health Project Officer, ProtectNWT, advances assigned projects supporting operational and strategic priorities to improve public health programming requirements of the ProtectNWT Office. This Office has been established to assist with meeti ng self-isolation requirements under Public Health Orders for communicable disease control in a pandemic.
The position will collaborate with a tea m of multi-disciplinary specialists to advance the work of the Office, and will analyze and evaluate public health orders, standards, policies and procedures to ensure operational requirements of the Office are in line with direction of the Office of the Chief Public Health Officer.
This position is responsible for responding to inquiries from the public and a broad array of agencies through a toll-free (833) call centre format as well as email, and assist with redirecting inquiries to appropriate agencies.
The incumbent must have the ability to maintain calm, exhibiting controlled and professional behavior at all times on shifts. Ability to train, mentor peers and to think analytically and relationally while solving complex problems.
Typically the above qualifications are obtained by completion of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, i.e. public health, coupled with minimum two years of experience in a fast-paced work environment, preferably in the health or service industry setting.

This job opening is for an 8 month term.
The salary for this position starts at $47.68 per hour (approximately $92,976 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of 3,700.
