Child and Youth Care Counsellor

The Child and Youth Care Counsellor is a member of the community counselling team and provides integrated and therapeutic mental health and behavioural programming in collaboration with school personnel, mental health, and social services professionals. As the successful applicant, you will provide a wide range of services with an emphasis on developing therapeutic relationships with children, youth, and their families. During the school year, you will be based primarily in the school, but, in order to align with the needs of children and youth, other locations may include Community Counselling Program office, client family home, or other appropriate community locations.
As the Child and Youth Care Counsellor, you will provide direct client care including individual and environmental assessment, intervention planning, individual, family, and group counselling, and referrals to other important service providers and agencies within the community. You will work collaboratively with other community services including school principals, teachers, social workers, nurses, physicians, RCMP, Victim Services, and local Indigenous and Non-Government Organizations to provide a comprehensive, person, and family centred approach to care.
To be successful in this role, we require the successful completion of a Master's degree in Child and Youth Care, Counselling, Clinical Social Work, or Education with a focus on therapeutic counselling.

The salary range for this position is from $47.68 per hour to $59.69 per hour (approximately $92,976 - $111,072) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
