Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority – Yellowknife Region (NTHSSA)  is one of eight health and social services authorities established by the Department of Health and Social Services in the Government of the Northwest Territories. 

NTHSSA – Yellowknife Region delivers and administers Population Health, Primary Health Care and Social Services programs in the communities of Dettah, Fort Resolution, Lutselk’e, Ndilo and Yellowknife.

Job Information

The Community Social Services Worker (CSSW), Foster Care and Adoption is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Child and Youth placement services and programs in the Yellowknife region of the Northwest Territories.  The incumbent provides leadership and consultation to staff and community members and coordinates and manages direct program delivery.

The CSSW, Foster Care and Adoption will assist front line child protection staff and their supervisors with training, orientation, placement and support of Foster Homes in the Yellowknife Region. The incumbent plays a critical liaison role between NTHSSA, the client, the Department of Health and Social Services, and other community stakeholders to ensure that individuals have access to the care that they need. They will also act as a liaison with Community Leaders, Non-Government Organizations, and other Government Departments to ensure proper service delivery in their program areas.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by a Diploma in Social Work and at least two (2) years of experience.

The incumbent must be able to obtain a NWT Child Protection Appointment and NWT Adoption Worker Appointment.

Immunization Status

The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $45.54 per hour (approximately $88,803.00 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.00.
