Health Records Clerk - TERM
The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority –Stanton Territorial Hospital (NTHSSA) is offering challenging work and work life balance. STH is the referral center for approximately 43,000 NWT residents and 5,900 residents from the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. STH provides health care services to adults and children on an inpatient/outpatient and outreach basis in order to restore health with dignity. STH maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property, recognizing the health hazards associated with tobacco in the workplace, both to smokers and non-smokers alike. Therefore, Stanton maintains a tobacco free environment within the building and throughout the property.
The Health Records Clerk reports to the Health Information Analyst and Supervisor of Patient Information. The incumbent works within a team environment providing clerical and reception support for inquiries and requests from staff, clinics, general public and other Government Departments, Boards and Agencies for patient information. The Health Records Department is responsible for processing approximately 31,000 patient encounters per year. The incumbent processes all ambulatory care patient documentation and works independently to ensure this documentation is prepared and processed correctly and is in the required assembly order. All documentation is highly confidential.
The incumbent is responsible for chart requests and deliveries throughout the hospital to authorized users, as well as transfer of information to clinics, Health Centers and other health facilities.
The incumbent is responsible for governing a unique patient numbering system. The Health Records Clerk will merge patient information and eliminate duplicate patient identification numbers in both electronic and paper systems.
Typically, the above gualifications would be attained by:
High school diploma and successful completion of a Medical Terminology program in addition to two (2) years of related experience in a computerized health care clerical/reception work setting.

The salary range for this position is from $30.86 per hour to $36.85 per hour (approximately $60,177 to $71,857.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
