Stanton Territorial Hospital (STH) is a recently accredited, brand new, modern 100 bed facility, located in Yellowknife Northwest Territories (NWT). STH is the referral center for NWT residents and residents from the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. STH provides health care services to adults and children on an inpatient/outpatient and outreach basis in order to restore health with dignity.
The Director, Operations and Allied Health is located in Yellowknife and reports to the STH Chief Operating Officer (COO). STH is a 100-bed facility (67 acute care and 11 extended care beds are currently open) that serves as the Territorial Hospital within the NTHSSA.
The Director, Operations and Allied Health is a key executive management role, responsible for providing vision and leadership to the strategic planning, directly, delivery and evaluation of operational and allied health services and the overall operation of STH.
The Operations and Allied Health portfolio includes Diagnostic Services, Pharmacy, Rehabilitative Services, Facility Services (including Medical Device Reprocessing), and Health Records.
The incumbent will work within a legislative and policy framework and carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) acts, regulations, policies and Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) policies and procedures as well as the Canada Health Act, the Hospital Insurance and Health and Social Services Administration Act, the Medical Care Act, the Northwest Territories (NWT) Nursing Profession Act, and the Health Information Act.
The Incumbent, will work closely with the COO and with the NTHSSA Territorial Directors, to ensure that patient needs are being supported and addressed and to identify and address program challenges and opportunities for improvement, establish program objectives for STH, and to report on and contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the program delivery of the hospital. They will also contribute to the development of the program area across the territory through their participation on cross-territory initiatives and projects.
The NTHSSA is the major provider of all health and social services in the NWT, with unique collaborative arrangements with the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority and the Tlicho Community Services Agency. It covers 1.2 million square kilometers and serves approximately 43,000 people, including First Nations, Inuit, Metis and non-aboriginals.
STH provides a wide range of services including: Emergency Services, Acute Inpatient Services, Mental Health and Addictions Services, Diagnostic Services, Rehabilitative Services, Long Term Care Services, and Specialist Services including Travel Clinics.
STH employs a wide range of professionals including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, audiologists, speech language pathologists, medical laboratory technicians, and medical radiology technicians, and physicians and holds contracts with numerous service providers. Stanton's annual expenditure budget is $119 million (in excess of 1/3 of the NWT Health System's budget) and has revenue collections of $33 million.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A recognized University degree in an applicable field; and a Master's Degree in Health or Business Administration. Additionally, the incumbent will have a minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience, ideally in an acute health care setting.
Ideally has experience working in a P3 Environment. Expertise in program evaluation is an asset.

The salary range for this position is from $66.55 per hour to $95.07per hour (approximately $129,773 - $185,387.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
