Senior Property Assessor - Closing Date Extended

The Senior Property Assessor is located in Yellowknife and reports to the Manager, Assessment Services. The Senior Property Assessor completes, maintains and defends property assessments for all types of properties within the Northwest Territories in accordance with the Property Assessment and Taxation Act (PATA). This position is at a senior technical level in the administration and implementation of the property assessment functions.
The incumbent must possess knowledge in all areas of property valuation and assessment theories, principles and practices. The incumbent must have the ability to analyze, identify and value all types of construction, costs of construction, quality of construction materials and workmanship of construction. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and effective written and oral communication skills. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in large groups in a cross-cultural setting as well as independent judgment in establishing final assessment values. The incumbent must have the ability to register with the Alberta Assessors Association.
The knowledge, skills and abilities described above are typically acquired by meeting the requirements for professional accreditation recognized by the lnterprovincial Professional Property Assessors of Canada, with a minimum of 6 years' experience in property assessment. A valid driver's license is required.

Transfer Assignments may be considered.
The incumbent in this position will be required to travel to all areas of the NWT to assess the value of property. The incumbent will have work assignments that occur in the field, where there is a requirement to travel and stay overnight at hotels. This will occur twice a month during non-winter months.
Driver's License Requirement
A mandatory requirement for this position is a valid Class 5 Driver's License
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
The salary range for this position is from $52.22 per hour to $62.37 per hour (approximately $101,829 - $121,621) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
Eligibility lists may be created from this competition to fill future term and indeterminate positions.
