The Tlicho Community Services Agency is a unique organization responsible for the delivery of education, health and social services within the Tlicho region. The Tlicho Community Services Agency's vision 'Strong Like Two People' is a metaphor for the desire by community leadership to build an organization, and create programs and services that recognize the strength and importance of two cultures.
You will be providing counseling services and support to individuals and families who have experienced or are experienced trauma in their lives. This will include providing a full range of mental health, family violence and addictions counseling in Behchoko, and potential travel to other Tlicho communities. You will be providing meaningful assistance for vulnerable individuals and making a positive difference for the region!
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
-Master's degree Counseling, Psychology or Social Work with 2 years of relevant counseling experience in a scope of practice or experience solely restricted to trauma and family violence; Or
-Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work with 3 years of relevant counseling experience in a scope of practice or experience solely restricted to trauma and family violence; or
-Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing with 3 years relevant counseling experience in a scope of practice or experience solely restricted to trauma and family violence; or
-Diploma in Mental Health with 5 years relevant counseling experience in a scope of practice or experience solely restricted to trauma and family violence.
-The experience of the Trauma Counselor should include supervised education or work experience (counseling experience obtained under a qualified supervisor that includes at least 500 hours where at least 120 of those hours are direct client contact. Additional hours are spent face-to-face supervisions, educational activities, documentation activities and professional development.
