Teacher /Principal
This kindergarten to grade 9 school has a population of 10 students. In addition to teaching duties, the principal will supervise two staff member who provides special needs assistance.  The principal is required to provide leadership to staff and work with the District Education Authority. S/He is responsible for all of the administrative duties and reporting that is required by the Council and the Department of Education Culture and Employment. The incumbent will demonstrate a willingness to promote a culturally relevant program that supports the language and cultural heritage of the students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The teacher/principal applicant:
• must hold, or be eligible for a Professional N.W.T. Teaching Certificate;
• must hold N.W.T. Principal Certification or enroll in the training program;
• should have a minimum of five years experience teaching at various levels;
• should have experience of at least three years in education administration;
• should have experience with all N.W.T. curricula at K to 10 grade ten levels;
• should promote and provide leadership for an inclusionary model of education;
• has knowledge of and/or experience with Balanced Literacy, differentiation and self-regulation
• who has the ability to speak Slavey will be given preference.

Salary Information

Salary is pro-rated dependent on verified education and experience (ranging from $80,180 to $129,448 per annum) (NWTTA is currently in negations) plus an annual pro-rated Northern Allowance based on the NWTTA Collective Agreement.
