Patient Care Coordinator - Amended

Located in Yellowknife, the Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) reports to the Director, Patient Care Services (Director) and provides leadership in the operations of the hospital by performing risk management activities and assuming responsibility for the hospital building, the occupants and the working employees outside of normal hours of operation. This position works rotational shifts on a rotating basis to provide 24/7 role coverage. The incumbent is required to carry a cellphone that is called frequently as staff on duty requires assistance or guidance.
The PCC is an experienced Registered Nurses with leadership skills, who models and promotes excellence through the hands on delivery of nursing care to patients (when required) or by providing seasoned advice and/or recommendations to RNs when faced with difficult or unusual situations. As a mentor, researcher and consultant in nursing care, the incumbent helps guide nurses from task orientation to more empowered analytical thinking and care giving approaches. These provisions have a direct impact on the quality of services delivered to patients and their families, and on the cost of the services provided. The incumbent ensures that the staff levels meet patients; acuity needs.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
The successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting and one (1) year critical care experience or valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Equivalencies will be considered.

The salary range for this position is from $52,22 per hour to $62.37 per hour (approximately $101,829 - $121,622.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
