The Department of Health and Social Services works under the direction of the Minister and Deputy Minister, in partnership with the Health and Social Services Authorities, to support the health and wellbeing of people across the NWT through planning, development, evaluation and reporting on program and service delivery.

As the Senior Policy Officer, you will lead the development of new and the enhancement of existing health and social services policies and legislation. You will also be responsible for interpreting existing policies and legislation. When developing new or enhancing policies or legislation, the Senior Policy Officer is responsible for completing research, consulting stakeholder groups ad advising the Manager, Policy and Legislation the Department Senior Management. The Senior Policy Officer will also represent and explain Department positions at inter-departmental and inter-governmental meetings to protect the interests of the health and social services system.
Typically, the qualifications for this position would be attained by:
A university degree and a minimum of 4 years' experience in policy or legislative development, or evaluation in a northern environment.

The salary range for this position is from $53.00 per hour to $63.31 per hour (approximately $103,350- $123, 455 annually) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
