Job Information

The Compliance Coordinator reports to the Manager, Field Support Unit and is based in Fort Smith. The Compliance Coordinator is a critical position that is responsible for ensuring the departments’ law enforcement program is delivered across the NWT and is consistent with the Departmental mandate. The incumbent must maintain a broad understanding of Departmental operations, program development and delivery, legislative and policy framework.  The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for updating and developing operational policies that effect Departmental staff. The incumbent works closely with Departmental staff and Enforcement Officers appointed under ENR mandated legislation and offers expert advice and direction on compliance and enforcement related matters. 

 The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for this position include, but are not limited to; demonstrated knowledge of compliance policy and procedures development from planning to implementation, demonstrated knowledge of policy and legislation development and implementation principles and processes, demonstrated knowledge of principles involved in environmental, conservation education and enforcement, wildlife and forest management,  and related renewable resource fields. Demonstrated skills in developing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences and the ability to research, analyze, synthesize and organize complex information.

 Strong presentation skills, both oral and written, to support interactions with other staff, in particular enforcement officersthe public, political organizations and industry on complex issues is required.  The incumbent will need the experience and skills required in planning, organizing and coordinating multiple compliance projects with other organizations and within the department.

Salary Information

The salary for this position starts at $52.22 per hour (approximately $101,829. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,374
