The mandate of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources is to promote and support the sustainable use and development of natural resources, and to protect, conserve, and enhance the NWT environment for the social and economic benefit of all NWT residents.
Job Information
The position is located in the lnuvik Region and reports to the Crew Leader. The position is one of several crewmember positions in the lnuvik Region. The incumbent may be required to travel away from home for periods of up to two weeks. The incumbent receives day-to-day instruction from the Crew Leader. The incumbent is required to provide forest fire fighting and general duties in an overall effort to promote the sustainability of the lnuvik Region forests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of English Language (both oral and written) is required for effective
Communication with crew leader and air attack crew.
St. Johns Ambulance Emergency First Aid
Class 5 Driver's Licence - transportation of crew
Radio Operators license
Experience fighting fires
Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained through recent Certification in S- 100 Forest Fire Fighting Training Course. A bona fide requirement of the job is passing the annual Firefighter Work Capacity Testing standard.

Salary Information
The salary for this position starts at $34.20 per hour (approximately $71,136.00 per annum) plus a pro-rated annual Northern Allowance.
