Job Information
The Instructor, Developmental Studies is responsible for the planning, organization, instruction, delivery and evaluation of educational for adults. Instructor, Developmental Studies will be instructing courses related to the Developmental Studies Program, evaluating the courses, supervising students in practical environments, and recommending changes/improvements as required. As well as be required to teach diploma level courses in other programs such as the Bachelor of Education, Business Administration or Environment and Natural Resource Technology programs.
Will be required to instruct in a variety of programs, and must be devoted to developing and delivering quality courses and resources in addition to promoting positive career development of adult students within communities of the Northwest Territories.
The Instructor, Development Studies is a representative of the College within the community and therefore plays a critical role in creating and promoting a positive image for the College.
As an instructor, you are required to attend regular program meetings, and report regularly to his/her supervisor on student progress. As part of the College team, instructors are also required to complete a variety of non-instructional duties that may be required to attain the goals of Aurora College.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education or Education
Recognizing that Developmental Studies is made up of all areas of education, this position may require different skill sets for specialties such as math, social science, science and others; this position therefore requires relevant experience of one (1) school year in a targeted specialty area which would be included on the job poster based on the requirements of the college.
2 years instructional experience in the field of Adult Literacy and Basic Education
2 years' experience working with Aboriginal and Northern education

Adult Education Coursework Req

The salary for this position starts at $53.80 per hour (approximately $104,910 per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,374.
