Job Information

The Program Support Teacher is a team leader who provides the central in-school support for teachers with respect to programming for all students under the guidelines of Inclusive Schooling. This professional educator should have a repertoire of instructional, assessment, and behavioural techniques to assist teachers in meeting the diverse needs of all students.

The Beaufort Delta Divisional Education Council actively promotes:

Candidates must complete a Bachelor of Education Degree and eligibility for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate.

The following criteria will be important considerations in the hiring process:

  • Should have specific experience and/or training in the area of Special Education, Assessment, and Program Support
  • Should have training in the area of literacy and numeracy;
  • Must demonstrate good computer skills;
  • Must have excellent classroom management skills;
  • Must work as a team member in planning, delivery and assessment of programs and students;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with students, in multi-level situations;
  • Must promote the involvement of parents in a positive and supportive manner;
  • Should have direct experience with the development of Student Support Plans;
  • Should have training and teaching experience in a cross-cultural, classroom situation;
  • Must demonstrate active and consistent professional growth throughout their Educational career
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of the prescribed NWT Curricula
  • Experience using data to inform instructional decisions

This job opening is for a term from July 15, 2023 to July 12, 2024

Salary Information

Salary is pro-rated dependent on verified education and experience (ranging from $84,669 to $136,694 per annum) plus an annual pro-rated Northern Allowance based on the NWTTA Collective Agreement
