Job Information
Located in Yellowknife and reports to the Manager of the Major Projects Unit within the Land Management and Administration (LMA) Division. The Senior Strategic Advisor supports the administration and management of public land for the development of complex and medium to high-risk projects in the Northwest Territories. These major projects typically consist of mineral exploration and mine development, oil and gas, and tourism operations.
In this role, you will:
• Provide expert technical advice on major projects to the Division and senior management
(e.g. assist with drafting application-specific lease terms and conditions; review project-specific management plans that require approval)
• Research, investigate, and synthesize information on land management for major projects
(e.g. review legislation, conduct risk assessments; review security estimates; use digital mapping systems)
• Manage the Division’s participation in the regulatory processes of major projects
(e.g. Mackenzie Valley land use permitting)
• Represents the Division on Departmental matters related to major projects
Typically attained by:
A graduate degree in a discipline or subdiscipline of biophysical or natural sciences, social sciences, geography, environmental science, resource management, law, or related fields of study and three (3) years of relevant experience, including project management experience.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $53.80 per hour to $64.26 per hour (approximately $104,910 - $125,307.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
