Job Information
The incumbent plays a key role in quality assurance and operational functioning of the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Care unit of the Inuvik Regional Hospital (IRH), ensuring services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
Under the direction of the Regional Manager, Acute Care (RMAC), the position provides day to day supervision to 30 clinical and non-clinical staff members and participates with the RMAC in the staff evaluation process. The position functions as a team member of various Continuing Quality Improvement teams representing the ED and Acute Care Unit perspective. The ED/Acute Care Units service the Town of Inuvik and is the referral center for 7 communities in the Inuvik Region. The ED typically has between 7000 and 8000 visits per year, then approximately 750 patients admitted to Acute Care for a total of 3000 bed days per annum. The incumbent will act in a supervisory role for the clinical and non-clinical staff on Acute Care and will provide continuity of care from Monday to Friday. The incumbent will act as a resource to staff taking an active role in staff scheduling, ensuring completion of the attendance registers for the Manager’s signature, trouble shooting and problem solving for smooth functioning of the daily operations of the Acute Care and ED units, identifying learning needs of staff for continuing education by the incumbent and/or Nursing Educator.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma with two years recent experience in ED/Acute Care nursing with supervisory responsibilities.
Certification of Nursing Administration Course is an asset.
Registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is mandatory for this position.

Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $11,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $11,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $58.31 per hour to $69.65 per hour (approximately $113,704.00 - $135,817.00) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $16,999.00
