Are you passionate about the fire service industry? Do you want to make a difference in the communities you serve? Join our team as an Assistant Fire Marshall (AFM)!
As the AFM, you will manage the effective delivery of MACA's fire prevention, protection and investigation programming within the South Slave region and actively guide and support community government efforts in delivering fire prevention initiatives. The incumbent does not supervise staff directly; rather they provide expert advice and guidance to community fire departments, community government councils, government officials, and private and public clients.
The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of fire protection and the ability to work within legally defined legislative parameters to ensure compliance with adopted codes, standards and regulations. The incumbent will conduct fire investigations and fire safety inspections as required through Territorial legislation.
To be successful in this position you must have a Diploma or Degree in the sciences or social sciences. A background in Emergency Management, Fire Training, or in Fire Service would be preferred. You must have at least three years experience in firefighting and/or fire investigations and inspections, a valid Class 3 Drivers licensed with Air Brake Certification and the successful completion of the following NFPA training courses:
NFPA 1001 and 1002 Professional Firefighter,
- 1031 Fire Inspector,
- 1033 Fire Investigator and;
- 1041 Fire Service Instructor.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $55.73 per hour to $66.56 per hour (approximately $108 673 - $129 792.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,280.
