You will build an in-depth knowledge of the Public Health Act and the Reportable Disease Control and Disease Surveillance Regulations.
Not only will you promote the health of individuals, families, communities and various populations and their environments. You will practice in diverse settings, such as clinics, homes, schools, local hospital and primary care clinics, shelters and public areas. You will be a clinical leader within Public Health and be knowledgeable on best practice, as well provide mentorship and lead other public health nurses and staff when delivering programming. Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
This level of knowledge is commonly acquired through the successful completion of a BScN or BN nursing degree program with 2 years of nursing experience and 2 years as a Nurse Practitioner in a public health or community health environment and active registration and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. OR Successful completion of BScN or BN nursing degree program with 2 years of nursing experience and 2 years of Nurse practitioner experience in acute care or emergency.

Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $10,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $10,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions

Eligible for current registration/certification with the college and association of nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is mandatory for this position.
Eligible for NWT licensing and appointment and Privileges granted under the Medical and Professional Staff Bylaws.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $68.30 per hour to $81.59 per hour (approximately $133,185 - $159,101.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
