Department Information

Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority - Yellowknife Region (NTHSSA)  is one of eight health and social services authorities established by the Department of Health and Social Services in the Government of the Northwest Territories. 

NTHSSA - Yellowknife Region delivers and administers Population Health, Primary Health Care and Social Services programs in the communities of Dettah, Fort Resolution, Lutselk'e, Ndilo and Yellowknife.

Job Information

The Fiscal Strategy and Business Improvement Unit provides strategic financial services to the Authority through all phases of the annual business planning and development cycle. The analyst plays a significant role as part of a team of financial experts that leads the process of understanding of system cost drivers and supporting the development of business cases for funding requests to the Financial Management Board (FMB). The Unit also provides oversight, advice, analysis, research, and support to complex and interconnected financial activities (actual, budget, funding and positions) of the Authorities.

The Financial Reporting Analyst supports the NTHSSA mandate through the regular provision of detailed financial analysis, planning and reporting aimed at ensuring appropriate use of limited resources and enhancing system understanding. The Financial Reporting Analyst regularly makes recommendations to senior management on the financial implications (expense, revenue and funding) of policy and program decisions.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
Completion of a University Degree (Commerce, Finance or Economics) combined with two years directly related experience and/or 4th level of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., CGA, CMA) combined with two years directly related experience.
