Fort Resolution (Deninoo Kue – “moose island”) was the original fur trading post in the NWT. This largely Aboriginal community is located near the mouth of the Slave River, on Great Slave Lake. This is now the termination of Highway 6 connecting to Hay River and the Mackenzie Highway. There’s a varied economy, including some tourism activity, but traditional subsistence activities, such as hunting, trapping and fishing also provide income. The Deninu School offers K-12. There’s a general store, health centre, and RCMP detachment. There’s an attractive campground nearby, with access to Great Slave Lake.
