The GNWT does not recommend leaving the NWT for non-essential travel.
All isolation centre costs are covered by the GNWT if you are a current resident of the NWT. Current residents must have an approved Resident Self-Isolation Plan within 24 hours of returning to the NWT.
Isolation centre costs are also covered by the GNWT for those who are permanently moving to the NWT or students coming to the NWT to attend school or college within the territory. Both those moving to the NWT for school or permanently must have a Protect NWT approved Resident Self-Isolation Plan before travelling within the territory. Protect NWT will ask for evidence that you are attending school within the territory or moving to the territory – such as a letter of admission or a letter of offer.
All other individuals will be responsible for covering the costs to stay at a self-isolation centre. This includes non-residents who have been allowed entry into the NWT by the Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO) through an exemption.
Alternate self-isolation arrangements may be approved through the Self-Isolation Planning process. Exemptions can be considered for exceptional circumstances.
