The Federal Government has created a number of economic relief options for Canadian businesses.
The Business Resilience Service (BRS) is a business support hotline run by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, available 7 days a week from 6am-6pm MST to connect you with experienced business advisors from across Canada. The hotline provides guidance on COVID-19 financial support program options and eligibility for small to medium-sized businesses. The BRS phone number is 1-866-989-1080. More information is available here.
Rent relief is available to all holders of existing commercial and mining surface dispositions on public land. Surface dispositions are usually leases, but there are a small number of other types of dispositions such as easements or licences of occupation, that are also eligible for relief. The rent relief applies to all dispositions in effect between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, so that all affected parties receive the benefit, regardless of when in the year their disposition renews. The rent relief does not apply to new applications in force after April 1, 2020. If you have already paid rent that was due during this period and your account is in good standing, your payment will automatically be refunded. For more information, visit the Land Lease Fee's page.
Financial support is available for recycling depot operators to help offset costs directly associated with loss of income due to the closure.
