Due to fire danger in the region, a fire ban has been put into effect for Queen Elizabeth Territorial Park, prohibiting open fires.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Union of Northern Workers (UNW) have reached an agreement in principle. Both parties will be recommending ratification of the agreement - the UNW to their membership and GNWT to the Financial Management Board.

Effective at 5:00 p.m. on June 20, 2024, fire restrictions in the Dehcho region are being implemented prohibiting any open flames on all public and private lands.
These restrictions are effective through July 3, 2024, and may be extended if necessary.
