(October 21, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, the Accountability Framework for Community Governments is now complete. This framework will be an important tool that will allow MACA and community government stakeholders to better coordinate our working relationship based on defined indicators that measure the health and success of community governments.

(February 22, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, today I am pleased to speak about the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs’ upcoming Good Governance Conference. This year’s conference theme is “Community Ownership.” The conference will take place at the Explorer Hotel in Yellowknife from February 26 to 28, and 165 participants representing all 33 communities are expected to attend.
(February 20, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, since the implementation of the New Deal for NWT Community Governments in 2007, community governments have been in control of their own infrastructure priorities. MACA has worked closely with the Northwest Territories Association of Communities and the Local Government Administrators of the NWT to develop an Accountability Framework that emphasizes and reinforces the goals of the New Deal initiative and supports the Legislative Assembly’s goal of a strong North built on partnerships.
(February 12, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, 15 Youth Ambassadors, representing seven NWT communities, travelled with us to Ottawa recently to promote the Northwest Territories at Winterlude as part of NWT Days.
