FORT RESOLUTION, NT (June12, 2018) – Residents celebrated the official opening of the Denı́nu Kų́ę́ Health and Social Services Centre today,  in Fort Resolution.

The new Health and Social Services Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that for the first time brings together health, social services, and home care into the same building. Providing these services to residents of Fort Resolution in one location will improve patient care in the community.

YELLOWKNIFE (May 31, 2018) – With the new Stanton Hospital now more than 75 per cent complete, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has signed a lease agreement with Stanton Ventura Inc. to accommodate tenants in the redeveloped existing Stanton Hospital.

Renovations will begin in summer 2019 after patients are moved into the new Stanton Territorial Hospital. The existing hospital will be re-purposed to house:

YELLOWKNIFE (May 15, 2018) – Glen Abernethy, Minister of Health and Social Services met with NWT Indigenous leaders in Yellowknife May 10-11, 2018. This government to government meeting represented the third meeting between the minister and leaders.  Building on successes from the previous meetings in the K’atl’odeechee First Nation (2015) and Norman Wells (2016), leaders discussed health outcomes and strategies.

The Healthy Choices Fund helps eligible organizations and community governments maximize the impact of health promotion and prevention activities that support individuals, families, and communities in making positive lifestyle choices.

YELLOWKNIFE (May 3, 2018) – Changes to health fees, including for health and social services professionals regulated by territorial legislation, and fees for vital statistics services, such as requests for marriage licenses or birth certificates, will come into effect on May 15, 2018. The fee changes are being carried out as part of standard procedure to review and adjust fees to reflect inflation during the past five years.

YELLOWKNIFE (May 2, 2018) – The Minister of Health and Social Services, Glen Abernethy, announced the recipients of over $1 million that the Government of the Northwest Territories is investing  in local projects that take action against poverty.  In total, 43 projects led by community and Indigenous organizations will receive funding under the 2018-19 Anti-Poverty Fund this year.
