(February 19, 2013) - Mr. Speaker, I am very pleased to announce that the Government of the Northwest Territories has been chosen as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2013.
YELLOWKNIFE (February 19, 2013) – The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has been named as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers.
Mr. Speaker, effective human resource management of the NWT public service relies on partnerships between the Department of Human Resources and other Government departments, boards, and agencies.
Mr. Speaker, the Government is committed to being an inclusive workplace open to all Northerners. A diverse workplace improves our ability to serve the public.
Mr. Speaker, I am happy to report that the Government of the Northwest Territories hired 308 students this past summer. This was an increase of nine percent from 2011, when 286 students were hired. Of the 308 students hired, 54.6 per cent were Indigenous Aboriginals.
Mr. Speaker, on October 10th the Government of the Northwest Territories was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2013.
