November 2, 2010 - More than 125 million beverage containers have been returned since the NWT Beverage Container Program first began on November 1, 2005.

“Since its’ inception, the Beverage Container Program has had enormous public support,” said Minister of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR), J. Michael Miltenberger. “We have an 84 percent recovery rate overall and we have NWT residents to thank for this success.”

The Program is intended to significantly reduce the number of preventable drownings each year associated with boat use and water activities in the NWT.

October 29, 2010 - Premier Floyd Roland says he hopes Aboriginal governments in the Northwest Territories will be prepared to take the next step in the process to advance a proposed Devolution Agreement-in-Principle (AiP).

The Premier presented a history of the AiP process to Members of the Legislative Assembly this morning. While the draft AiP is not binding, it provides the necessary parameters for negotiations leading to a final agreement on Devolution.

October 29, 2010 -  Minister of Health and Social Services Sandy Lee has responded to the report of the Supplementary Health Benefits Joint Working Group.

The 2007 Policy on Supplementary Health Benefits will be withdrawn and the Department of Health and Social Services will concentrate efforts on ensuring existing extended health benefits programs are fairly and consistently administered. The GNWT will now begin work to advance changes in the life of the 16th Assembly based on:
