YELLOWKNIFE (February 8, 2016) – Premier Bob McLeod announced today that Cabinet has initiated the process for working with Members of the 18th Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to determine prudent and responsible solutions to the financial challenges identified by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). The announcement follows meetings between Minister of Finance Robert C. McLeod and the Standing Committee on Priorities and Planning (SCOPP) to review the GNWT’s fiscal forecast for the next several years, as well as Caucus review of the draft GNWT mandate.

YELLOWKNIFE (October 8, 2015) – The groundbreaking ceremony for the new state-of-the-art Stanton Territorial Hospital represents the beginning of the largest infrastructure project in the Northwest Territories history that will provide health care service for future generations of residents.

YELLOWKNIFE (September 24, 2015) – Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger announced today that the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has signed an agreement with Boreal Health Partnership (BHP) to design, build, finance and maintain the Stanton Territorial Hospital.
The GNWT selected BHP following an evaluation of competitive proposals submitted by pre-qualified proponents. Today’s announcement formalizes the selection of BHP as the preferred proponent to work on the hospital.
YELLOWKNIFE (September 2, 2015) –The Government of the Northwest Territories will provide the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) with up to $29.7 million to prevent an increase to power rates for all NWT residents. The funding was required because of continued low water levels affecting the Snare and Bluefish hydro systems.
YELLOWKNIFE (August 21, 2015) – The renewal of the Stanton Territorial Hospital moves closer to reality with the announcement today by Finance Minister J. Michael Miltenberger, that Boreal Health Partnership (BHP) has been selected as the Preferred Proponent, pursuant to the GNWT’s Request for Proposals for the project.
The GNWT and BHP will be working together to finalize the Project Agreement and start the preparatory work required before construction can begin later this Fall.
