June 3, 2011 - NWT residents are advised that The GNWT is taking the following actions to ensure that necessary packages are still available throughout the current mail strike.  For the duration of the postal strike, GNWT cheques and other packages will not be delivered through the mail.

March 29, 2011 - Media are invited to learn about the new NWT Colorectal Cancer Screening Clinical Practice Guidelines in effect.

Dr. Angus MacIver, former staff surgeon and Chief of Staff at the Inuvik General Hospital, and Dr. Maureen Mayhew, acting Chief Public Health Officer for the Department of Health and Social Services, will be present to explain and answer questions about the new guidelines.

January 17, 2011 - Members of the news media are advised that three documents related to the Levelton construction audit of the Deh Cho Bridge project Phase 1 have been posted on the project website at http://www.dehchobridge.info/. These documents are the Levelton audit report, the Associated Engineering recommendations for the Levelton report, and the GNWT Action Plan for responding to the report.

November 15, 2010 - Premier Floyd Roland says Canada’s endorsement on Friday of the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is an encouraging and tangible demonstration of the federal governments’ renewed commitment to  Canada’s Aboriginal people.

“Aboriginal cultures, values and traditions are a rich and equal part of our nation’s proud history,” the Premier said.  “I congratulate the federal government for recognizing and taking this important step that will serve to advance and strengthen our relationships collectively as Canadians.”

November 5, 2010 - Premier Floyd Roland will travel to Helsinki this weekend where he will deliver a key note address at the “Arctic Future – Cooperation in the Face of Change” seminar on November 8, 2010.

Given its importance to NWT residents, Premier Roland has become a leading proponent for building international understanding and cooperation on key issues impacting the Circumpolar North and promoting the importance of Northern decision making and cooperation in the face of growing global interest in the Arctic.
